This privacy notice describes how Starr Managing Agents Limited, Starr International (Europe) Limited and Starr Underwriting Agents Limited (collectively "Starr" "we" or "us") collects and processes personal information about policyholders, beneficiaries or claimants and their agents and relatives ("you"), how we use and protect this information, and your rights in relation to this information.

This privacy notice applies to all personal information we collect or process about you in relation to the administration of insurance policies, our products and services. Personal information is information, or a combination of pieces of information that could reasonably allow you to be identified.

  3. Third Party Administrator;
  4. Appointed Representative;
  5. Loss Adjuster;
  6. Master Policyholder;
  7. from an organisation we insure;
  8. from third parties such as law enforcement, anti-fraud agencies, other insurers, your solicitor or a credit reference agency;
  9. from publicly available information;
  10. as part of the purchase, sale or merger, or proposed purchase, sale or merger of new business;

We may be required by law to collect certain personal information about you, or as a consequence of any contractual relationship we have with you. Failure to provide this information may prevent or delay the fulfilment of these obligations.

    3. Proof of identity (e.g. passport, utility bill, birth certificate or marriage certificate);
    4. Family details (e.g. spouse, partner, joint applicant, next of kin, dependents, designated beneficiary or trustee);
    5. Financial information (e.g. income, expenditure, credit and bank details);
    6. Professional advisers' details (e.g. financial advisers, solicitors, estate agents);
    7. Employment details (e.g. length of service, salary, tax details, places and types of work carried out);
    8. Health (e.g. physical, mental, family, medical history, GP details, medical reports, other medical practitioner details);
    9. Claim (e.g. details of the claim and why you are making it);
    10. Transactional information (e.g. information about your services, information relating to any of your requests, queries or complaints); or

    Some of the categories of information that we collect are special categories of personal data (also known as sensitive personal information). In particular, we may process data concerning health in connection with the administration of insurance policies and any claims.
How We Use Your Personal Information and the Basis on Which We Use It

    1. identify you, assess and process applications to use our insurance products or services;
    2. communicate to manage and administer insurance with respect to the services that we provide;

For example, we may partner with other companies to provide customer service administration, IT systems and software, process secure payments, optimise our products and services, support email and messaging services and analyse information.

  • Other insurers. We and other organisations may also access and use this information to prevent fraud and other crime. For example when reviewing applications for products and services, claims payments and recoveries. We may also share your personal information with other insurers, co-insurers or Lloyd's syndicates.
  • Reinsurers. We may share your personal information with reinsurers who help us manage our risk.
